Is your child safe in the car

At present, the most effective way to protect children's safety is child safety seats, which can reduce the infant mortality rate by 70% and the mortality rate of children aged 4 to 7 by 59%. Chinese people don't pay much attention to the safety of children in cars. When driving out with children, 40% of parents think that the safest protection measure is to hold the child and sit in the back row. According to the simulation test conducted by China Automotive Research Group, when there is a danger, the dummy child directly flies out of the parents' arms, which does not play a protective role. 12% of parents choose to let their children sit freely in the back row. When the car encounters a frontal collision, the child is almost impossible to survive. The proportion of children who choose to sit alone in the rear row and fasten the seat belt is 6%. In fact, because the seat belt is designed for adults, children may slide, leading to accidents such as shoulder belt strangling the neck.
Why use a child safety seat?
If a car traveling at 50 kilometers per hour collides, a 9KG child will instantly generate 275 KG of impact, and the child will fly out like a bullet! Or it will become a parent's airbag! In 2007, the number of children killed and injured by traffic accidents in China exceeded 80000. Unfortunately, many of these accidents can be completely avoided.
The car seat belt is not suitable for children. The car seat belt is designed according to the adult label, and is suitable for adults with a weight of 36kg and a height of 140cm. If it is used for babies. The safety belt is stuck on the baby's neck, which will do more harm to the baby in case of an accident.
How to select child safety seats?
In the process of children's growth, the functions of various parts of the body are not yet developed and sound, and the protective measures such as car safety belts and airbags are designed and manufactured according to adult body standards, which pose a great risk to the safety of children's occupants. Therefore, there are professional children's design and manufacture of car safety child safety seat equipment. At present, more than 50 countries and regions in the world have issued relevant laws and regulations to force children to use car safety seats when riding, and there are also corresponding laws and regulations and production and testing standards.
When purchasing child seats, the choice of child seats can be considered according to the age and weight of the child:
Generally, there are 0-9 kg baby basket seats, 0-18 kg seats, 9-18 kg seats, 9-36 kg seats and 15-36 kg seats.
Special attention: children under 13 kg must buy seats that can be installed in reverse direction, which can protect the baby's spine and head and neck, and avoid the strong impact on the baby when braking. (Because the baby's spine of this weight level is not yet fully developed, it can not bear the huge impact.) For the expandability of the child seat, there is also a separate booster pad that can be used together. When the child's height and weight are relatively light, the booster pad can be used to increase the height of the child's vision in the car, and can also play a role in fully fixing the position. (Because the international standard car safety belt is designed for the human body whose height is more than 1.5M, if the passenger whose height is less than 1.5M uses the safety belt, the safety belt will easily cause great injury to the child's neck in the event of an accident)
How to use the child safety seat correctly?
When you install the seat and make sure it is correct, you should start to use the child safety seat. Needless to say, no matter how short the trip is, you should use the child safety seat every time you drive with your child. Before starting, take some time to check whether the child is securely and comfortably tied by the belt. Make sure that the belt used to tighten the child is adjusted to the most appropriate length. The belt should be tight enough to ensure that only two fingers can be inserted between the child's chest and the belt.
Pay attention to the clothes children wear that may affect the tension of the belt. Don't put the buckle of the belt on the child's stomach.
If your child uses a lift seat or cushion, both the child and the seat (or cushion) will be tensioned by the safety belt on the original car seat. Check and make sure that the belt is as tight as possible.
The leg belt passes near the pelvis (not from the stomach), from one hip bone to the other; The diagonal belt should be tied to the child's shoulder, not the neck (some seats have a clip to help secure the belt). Never put the seat belt on the child's arm or back.
Many children at a certain age do not want to be tied to the seat. They may sneak out of the belt or untie the belt buckle themselves during driving. But even so, you should not try to prevent this from happening by changing the design of the belt buckle. Your unauthorized change may affect the quick release device of the belt buckle, which will affect the time to release the belt buckle and hold the child out in case of an accident. The correct and reasonable use of the child safety seat will add a double insurance for the baby's driving safety. Only by selecting and using the child safety seat correctly can it provide the proper safety guarantee for children's riding safety.
